| Thomas Montgomery House | ||||
| Located one-half mile to the west of the village, this was the farm of prominent Christiana merchant Thomas Montgomery. Built in 1741, this house is an elegant example of the highest Georgian architecture, and is made with English bond brick, a corner fireplace, and hand-sawn rafters. Montgomery was an important merchant in town, and after he relocated to Philadelphia in 1762, he maintained the town in the village. After his death in 1765, the farm was rented and later sold by John Willday, Montgomery's son-in-law. |
