Ye Olde King's Road
The north-south road passing through Christiana, now know as Delaware Route 7, was one of the first inland routes in the colonies and the highway between Philadelphia, Baltimore and points north and south.  Originally little more than a rough path through the wilderness, it was improved during the late 18th/early 19th century when it was operated as a turnpike, the fares helping to pay for its improvement.  Many well-known persons traveled along its path, including Washington, Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, and Mason and Dixon.
