Christiana Fire Company |
The Christiana Fire Company was organized on October 7, 1921, and incorporated on January 4, 1922. They purchased their first truck a few months later, a Waterous Typee "C" Triple Combination Pumper Truck. In 1927, they purchased a lot on the corner of East Main Street and South Old Baltimore Pike, and there had built a two bay fire house. |

The Company proved to be a succesful, valuable addition to the community, and has continued to grow ever since its inception. In 1957, they purchased the adjoining property to the east, and expanded their building with more bays and more modern facilities. In 1974, the Christiana Fire Company remodeled the original fire house into a museum, including having their original 1927 American LaFrance Engine, and in 1977 they used community support and the aid of a summer youth program to remodel the exterior of the fire house to be more compatible with the surrounding historic structures. |
